Concerns on Homeschool On Line

It is unedited and probably needs some work, which is half of the reason why I am posting in on here. The other half of the reason is because I want to know what you think! Do you like it’
The main character, whose name I don’t reveal in the context, is named Alice. Her personality is innocent, rather shy, and self-conscious. She is fourteen years old, the same age as me! :)
Thanks a ton in advance!
Best of luck and wishes,
~Sinister Angel

No one is around, I thought to myself.
I was standing in the doorway of the largest studio. Mirrors lined one wall, ballet barres lined the other three. The floor was covered in black rubber, perfect for pointe shoes. To my direct right was a small shelf with a CD player and a log book, and next to that a chair where Mrs. Leaf would sit and watch the dancers practice and stretch.
C’mon, no one will see you. Heck, no one’s here! My thoughts were oddly impatient and singular, as if they were an entire other person. Then again, my thoughts often contradicted my actions. And it was true that no one was here; a lot of the older class who danced in this room were watching a movie in the hangout room. The younger ballet class, which was usually the largest group of around twelve, was abnormally small today, and only five had showed up. Mrs. Leaf said that it was the flu going around. That class usually practiced in the largest studio where I was, but since the class was so small, they had moved to the second-largest studio. It was uncomfortable dancing in this room, personally, because whereas the second-largest studio had a door, the largest did not. So practically anyone could come and watch me if they wished to do so.
Just go already, my thoughts urged. Fine, I snapped at them, in my mind, which was really quite strange, considering I was having a mental conversation with myself.
I walked over to the CD player, took the CD case that had been clutched in my sweaty hands, and popped it open. Sliding the disk into the player, I put the case on the chair and stood to stretch. The first song on the CD began to play; it was my stretching song. I was not extremely flexible, but I wasn’t doing ballet or anything of that sort. No, I was going to do ballroom dancing today. I had always liked ballroom dancing, especially after I had taken classes in the early autumn.
While stretching, my thoughts wandered over to the second-smallest studio where the younger ballet dancers were being commanded by Mrs. Leaf. Jayne Lawrence was in that class. My thoughts instantly raced to Jake Lawrence, my crush and Jayne’s brother. It was often said that they were the opposite gender version of the other. Meaning, they were a lot alike: Outgoing, kind, blonde-haired and blue-eyed, and very popular. Jayne was well-loved and bright, cheerful soul in our homeschool group. Jake was the same way. He loved to talk and laugh and entertain.
The song ended and my favorite song, one that I actually wrote and recorded onto the CD, began to play. It was only piano, but it flowed well and I found it easy to dance to. I began to dance across the room. I had lived and breathed this entire dance studio for years, and I knew I wouldn’t run into anything when I closed my eyes. Soon I was completely entranced in the music; my imagination zoomed into overdrive, and I saw myself dancing in a white ball gown with a prince who looked a lot like Jake.
The song was nine minutes long, and when it finally ended, I was admittedly exhausted. Opening my eyes and dropping my arms which had been holding my prince, I whipped around when I heard clapping.
It was Jake Lawrence. He had come with Mrs. Lawrence to pick up Jayne.
*Edit, reading back over it quickly, I am changing a sentence…
“and I saw myself in a white ball gown, dancing with a prince who looked a lot like Jake.”
Alice, Jake, and Jayne are taken from real-life people’I am Alice, Jake is a spin off of my good friend, and he actually has a younger sister named Jane.
Except, I don’t really dance in real life’and my guy friend only sees me as a friend…
*Jayne was a well-loved…
