Concerns on K12 Home School
If you are violently opposed to Apple products, I suggest you leave the conversation now before telling me not to buy what I already am convinced I will buy. Thank you in advance.
So, I’m a high school junior who already has an iPad that I use constantly. I previously owned a Dell Inspiron 15, but that thing was the crappiest excuse for a computer I’ve ever known. I’m now familiar with the Mac interface and would like to upgrade to a MacBook Pro. I’m hoping to use this computer as a home base for iTunes, iMovie, and GarageBand, as well as for school assignments (it’s only a year or so before I go to college, anyway). I love my iPad, and use it with these applications already, but I want the increased functionality of a laptop as a home base. I looked into refurbished MBPs directly from Apple, and found this one:

It’s got the same memory and RAM as my Dell did, at about the same price. I’m not afraid of refurbs, especially from Apple. I’m not sure if this computer will be outdated or not. I need the optical drive, and with the rumours of the new MBPs being without that, I don’t really want to wait for it. I’ve used an original MacBook and not found any setbacks in terms of being out-of-date anyways. So, for my needs, do you think this is a good match’ It’s right in my price range (I wanted it ~$1000).
